MINDFUL DESIGN: HEALING SPACES FOR A NOURISHED LIFE

I spent years working with individuals of all walks of life in an intimate, healing capacity as a sound healer. I won’t say I was going through the motions but I will say the work was consistent and basic, yet, extremely profound.

From the very beginning stages of owning my businesses, I was adamant about my client’s experience unfolding before they entered the door of our beautiful bungalow. Maybe it’s my type A personality or possibly a deeper “knowing”, but to me, impression is everything and so was establishing a cultured community.

I always felt I was a bit of a loan ranger in my days of one-on-one healing because I considered everything from colors, temperature, mood and visual appeal rather than just the healing modality itself. The experience started with a keenly thought out website to special touches outside my studio space to the visceral experience one felt as they walked through the door. THEN a warmer, deeper healing could begin.

For risk of rocking the boat, these “collective” qualities are not easily found in holistic healing spaces or many business for that matter. Most business owners don't have the insatiable craving for good design, a background in fine arts and an established field of sound healing that bridges a gab between math, science and energy.

Truly, it was only when I surrendered to every aspect of myself that was I able to really see what experience people needed. From there, it took little to no time to discover I was on the right track. Why? Because EVERYONE who walked through the door of my studio told me they felt a shift and experienced such beauty on the inside and outside.

I obsessively HAD to make any and all connections of the pulse of life to ensure a powerful result in healing. I knew that the psychological detail to design was a first step in forming a solid relationship with my clients and the last step was creating the profound internal changes they were seeking plus a lasting memory.

Clients must trust you in order for your work together to be effective.

As a designer of of healing sound, spaces and life, emphasis on the “whole” person is crucial if you are looking to make a difference in your client’s lives. As a designer, I want to encourage you to go deeper and think past the visual aesthetics of creating a space and look to the senses through which we experience life.

Help your clients really investigate what makes them unique. What do they really want? Need? Even if you have clients who are hell bent on a particular design esthetic, they are still looking for a feeling. A connection. And it is your job to see that it happens. How can you make the psychology of interior design safely plunge to the soul level?

I’ve learned that through quietly creating a beautiful path into my healing space of business, I’ve created an “unexplained” draw for people to want to work with me. You, too, can do this and it’s starts by looking into your own soul. Who do you want to attract into your life? How do you want to feel?

If you are wavering in uncertainty your design message will be lost and you will attract confused (difficult) individuals into your realm. Without tapping into profound experiences and energetic shifts that have made lasting impressions in your own life, you will not be able to do this for others.

The time is now for your to unleash your unique business design voice so you can help your clients immerse in purpose and community to make their own authentic impact in the world.

You know that thing you say you want? That thing that you’ve been talking about with whomever would listen for the past 3 months. Or 3 years. Or 3 decades.

That thing.

When are you actually going to do what needs to be done to make it happen? When are you going to allow yourself to step into who you need to become in order to stand in the power of your “thing”? When are you finally going to do the work?

Because the only way that you will ever achieve the thing that has been searing holes into your soul is if you get out of your own way and commit.

Transformation doesn’t come from dipping in your toes. It doesn’t happen when you limit your message and your truth because you’re afraid of what others “might” say about you.

Real shift happens when you decide you are no longer available for anything less than your worth.

So, what are you deciding in this moment? With your thoughts? Your words? Your actions?

What does the way you are choosing to show up in the world say to your dreams? …Does it say that you believe in them? …Or does it say that you aren’t really sure that you can have what you desire? You might want to start asking yourself what your actions have been saying about you behind your back.

Are you allowing yourself to live in a place of fear and doubt, with your dreams coming in a weak second to your self-imposed limitations?

You say you want real shift to happen in your life, your calling, your art. Well, it’s time to give up the way you think you are “supposed” to be doing this thing called life. And, instead, it’s time to give yourself permission to truly live. To finally surrender and just be. Be your dreams. Be your art. Be your genius. Be the divine light of truth that runs through your veins.

Because there is no magic pill to swallow that will transport you to the land of your desires. You’ve got to be willing to do whatever it takes to get yourself there. And you’ve got to do it every day. There is no letting up when it comes to your dreams.

And no, that doesn’t mean all you do is work day and night without pause. Rather, that you take intentional steps every single day that will move you closer to living the life your soul is so desperately seeking.

You must always remember that with each breath, you are given a choice. With each space between your breaths, you are given a choice.

To believe. Or to give up.

So. Will you choose your dreams today? Will you choose the life you want over the life you have been told you should settle for? Will you choose to show up, day in and day out, and commit?

This breath. This moment. This dream.

Here’s to your Untaming.

Projecting the Culture of Your Brand

PROJECTING THE CULTURE OF YOUR BRAND

Projecting the Culture of Your Brand

Projecting the Culture of Your Brand

As entrepreneurs we sell our brand, our business and ourselves in order to solve a problem. How we project our business and ourselves to our customers today is of the upmost importance. How our customers or clients perceive us personally and as entrepreneurs is what can make or break us. The difference between success and potential failure.

The most important thing to remember that is we have so many tools available to us.

The days of owning a brick and mortar business, and just running an ad to bring business to us has been over long ago. But we all know that, we have every app, social media and so many other avenues to bring customers and clients to us and we need to project our brand equally through each resource.

I have seen many entrepreneurs project larger than life on the internet and social media only to work closely with a client and not be prepared to provide product or services as stated in this larger than life projection. If we project magic products or project that we are experts in any particular field, then we need back up these events. A customer or client will see right through it, if you are not what you say you are. We need to be real and prepared with every client every time, so the importance of being exactly who you are is important.

Since social media is a huge must have for business owners, we need to be cautious upon how we are perceived to each and every customer or client. I have noticed totally by accident that we all have three personalities when reaching out from behind a computer.

Three personality traits:

Our social media personality.
Our actual personality.
Our perception of our personality.

When we project our brand or image on social media we can sometimes create an image that is much bigger than we actually are. It is so easy while tapping away at your laptop to enhance our product or talents. This is easy due to the fact that we as humans have been desensitized to the event of simple everyday contact, eye to eye contact. The event of being and the energy felt from this type of contact is not always transferable through electronic means.

Those who know us well most likely know our actual personality better than ourselves. They will experience the energy of your personality on a daily basis and can be a great resource in assisting you in informing you on social media events prior to releasing them.

Most people with have a perception of who they are, we live this every day! But when trying to exist in business this perception needs to be real and in close alignment with the other two personalities. When this alignment of all three personalities closely match one another you are projecting your culture properly. We need to be real in all platforms in order to succeed, be conscious of your projection to the world.

The ABCs of Embracing Your Unique Business Culture

The ABCs of Embracing Your Unique Business Culture

Too often we, as entrepreneurs, try to mimic or model our unique business after another business we have observed. This practice is definitely not conducive to stepping into your own unique purpose. We need to be careful about trying to mimic others because, inevitably, it cause us to fail or at least have major setbacks.

We are ALL unique!!!

Here are a few key points to help you embrace YOUR unique business culture:

A: Attitude - As an entrepreneur you obviously have a winner’s attitude. Embrace it, use it. An attitude of success and excellence will go far in developing your business culture. Keep your attitude in check- be sure you maintain a positive, move-it forward attitude.

B: Belief - Believe in yourself. This is an area many entrepreneurs struggle with. You want your business to succeed but you often question yourself and hold yourself back. When you believe in yourself, it shows. This belief is evident to others and is a vital part of establishing your business culture.

C: Commitment - Commit to your business endeavor. Don’t do it half-assed. Be known for your commitment- to yourself, to your business and to your customers/clients.

D: Dare - Dare to be you!! This is what makes YOU you! It is your uniqueness that will attract the clients/customers that you are meant to have. This daring to show and to be authentic will set you apart in the business world!

E: Embrace - Embrace your uniqueness and show the world through your Attitude, your Belief, you Commitment and your Daring!

These five areas will aid you in establishing yourself as a force to be reckoned with in whatever industry you choose for your business to serve.

You've Been Lied To: 4 Steps to Finding Your Truth

YOU'VE BEEN LIED TO: 4 STEPS TO FINDING YOUR TRUTH

You've Been Lied To: 4 Steps to Finding Your Truth

You've Been Lied To: 4 Steps to Finding Your Truth

What child during his/her growing years ever says, “when I grow up, I want to be broke, struggling and unhappy in life?” Most children dream about the limitless possibilities of their future.

What is it that happens when we grow up? What is the roadblock that suddenly stands in our way of living the life we dream about as children?

The answer is “misinformation.”

What does that mean?
It means that when we were growing up, most of us were given a ton of misinformation about whom we are, what we should become and how we should function in this world. For example, our school system develops its main tests and curriculums for a certain learning style and those children who function at a different learning style other than what the school system says is “normal” are often punished, put in a “special” class for problem students, or they get put on psychoactive meds.

The lies we’re taught
Throughout our most formidable years of learning who we are and about developing self-acceptance, we often become disconnected from who we really are, developing a feeling of low self acceptance and even self hatred, because we were constantly given punishing lies of “not being good enough” or of “being a bad student” because perhaps we forgot to finish an assignment, we had trouble keeping up with some of the homework load, our test scores were too low, we didn’t make the team, the assignment was done sloppy and so on. We became fearful of any “normal” mistake that we made, because we were programed to believe that we must be perfect 100% of the time and that the occasional failures, mistakes and falling on our face were “unacceptable”, so we grow up believing that are unacceptable, unless we can reach perfection.

From approval seeking to running away
Why do most people give up too soon? Because we become hooked on the constant search for approval and acceptance in order to keep moving forward and the second we don’t get that approval and acceptance or if it’s taking too long to find it, then our primal survival instinct kicks in from memories of the past of getting punished and hurt, so we choose to give up and run the other way, rather than the face the pain of disapproval.

How to change your misinformation
The best and quickest ways to delete those lies about yourself is simply by learning about who you are, what makes you tick and how your mind works. For example, I had a mentor who was wonderful at many things; however, one of her flaws was that she only taught in a style that worked for her and not for everyone. Rather than choosing to have patience and understand that my brain style is different, she chose to not only punish me, but also punish me in front of our whole coaching group and make an example of me. Because I had a better understanding about myself, I realized she wasn’t a right fit for me, so I stopped working with her, where in the past, I would have beat myself up, gotten depressed and make every effort to get her approval again.

A client of mine came to me with very low self esteem and carrying a serious burden of guilt on his shoulders about who he is, because he truly believed that there was something wrong with him, he had misinformation about what is considered “normal” and what makes him tick. After working with me, I not only taught him about his personality and brain type, but I proved to him that the issues he went through are actually “normal” but no one ever allowed him to see that. Once he learned more about what makes him tick and how normal he really is, his self-esteem went up and he’s a much happier man.

4 Steps to finding who you are

1| Learn about your learning style: You can go online and take a test to see if you are a visual, auditory or kinesthetic learner.  It makes a huge difference in teaching you how you can best absorb information.

2| Do research on your personality type: Find some detailed personality tests to take online, such as the one on Holistic Fashionista or Myers Briggs, to know what makes you tick.

3| Find out your brain organizing type: Feeling frazzled? Rather than beat yourself up for lack of time management, read up on how the brain works. One book I love is called “Organizing for Your Brain Type” by Lanna Nakone, which includes a quiz and gives some great tips.

4| Practice daily rituals: Every day do something that will help strengthen who you are, such as hypnosis, guided imagery, step outside of your comfort zone, make your bed if you never make your bed, eat in a nice restaurant, do anything that makes you feel good and ultimately leads to you having a stronger bond with your true self!

A Business Culture of Your Dreams

Business Culture of Your Dreams

Business Culture of Your Dreams

A BUSINESS CULTURE OF YOUR DREAMS

Article by Denita Austin

Magazine: Issue #31

Instead of looking for what you want, create it. I am a strong believer of creating your own rules, ideas and concepts. Why not? Creativity is everything! Some of us have spent years trying to find the perfect group, tribe, or culture that resonate with our souls. The perfect group that understands our rhythm and flow or should I say, speaks our language. Instead of chasing, or sitting back wanting and dreaming, create a culture of your own for your brand and business. A culture that will empower people to have more freedom within themselves.

Creating solutions instead of problems.

As an entrepreneur, there is nothing sweeter than having the freedom to create. When building your empire, it’s not about micromanaging. It’s simply about encouraging and building a team who will be more involved in the brand itself by having the ability to create speak and create freely. The more freedom individuals have to take on tasks and create their own solutions, the more they feel connecting to a culture that they can believe in.
Creating a culture that will include a communication style based on mutual respect. With a well-designed structure, we all can create magic within our assignments and contribution to the overall vision.

My passion with any project would be increasing team ownership and empowerment. I thrive off teams who are free to apply judgment to situations that fall outside your traditional rule of thumb. Although I promote creativity and freedom, this also requires balance. We do not want to leave the team unclear about taking ownership.

Five Steps to Creating your dream business Culture

1 :: Be a Leader
Lead by example of course. The more you speak on your vision, you will become closer to your reality.

2 :: Become your vision
Everyone is looking to you for guidance so with that being said stand in your truth and become your vision.

4 :: Learn Balance
If you want your business to thrive, you must find balance in order to succeed. Example: Inquire about how much fun your team has while working with you. A rating system would be ideal!  When you’re able to track this information, you can talk about what to do to improve going forward.  Note: This is great for clients as well.

5 :: Token of Appreciation
A common problem in every business is showing appreciation. Verbal or Tangible! In some cases, the issue is just an absence of acknowledgement. Take the time to acknowledge those who support you and dedicate their time to the vision.

Remember, it’s about how well our words match our deeds. Thanks for taking the time to connect with me.
