When it comes to playing with the big leagues, all it takes is that one brilliant idea. I suppose that’s what happened to me when Holistic Fashionista was born. When I jumpstarted my entrepreneurial endeavors in my mid-twenties, I didn’t understand sales and marketing— and it’s pretty ironic that’s what I teach today. But as I became a more season businesswoman, I realized that even with my creativity, all those brilliant ideas wouldn’t have a platform to stand on, if I didn’t know how to bring them to commerce.
As we wrap up 2014 with a little glitz and glamour, I wanted to share the brilliance that lives inside Holistic Fashionista: the people. The most brilliant idea I ever had was to start being more of myself in business. That means dropping the ‘f-bomb’ if needed or blocking people who simply put “just didn’t get me.” People-pleasing is a disease and once you heal it from the inside out, the people who still remain end up being your greatest cheerleaders and that’s what makes YOU sparkle.
Today, I’m honored to say I have found the people who get me, I get them, and together we will change the world. With one brilliant idea after another, there is a place for your vision in the marketplace, you just need to find your niche and completely own it.

5 Secrets to Turning Mistake Into Profit
5 SECRETS TO TURNING MISTAKE INTO PROFIT!

Magazine: Issue #19
Why is it some people seem unaffected and others just can’t get good footing in business? Here are Five Small Secrets to help you move beyond the insurmountable events giving your profit friction!
5| Admission - Admitting a mistake is HUGE in moving forward and finding the solution! I think we all know someone who’s too cowardly to stand up and take the blame — then shake our head in embarrassment for them. A profit making, business person can accept responsibility.
4| Negative Talk! - When you’ve discovered the mistake, don’t beat yourself up too long about it! What good does it do but keep you in a negative space? Change your speech to “I made this mistake. I accept responsibility. Now I embrace the correction needed to move forward. The right thoughts are coming to me. I have what I need to move past this mistake.”
3| Act Accordingly! - Once your mouth is in alignment, the body will follow. Actions necessary to correct the mistake will start to happen and you will see results! Remember, sometimes the mistake is a small dingy and other times it’s the size of the Titanic — It’s important to BE PATIENT with yourself during the process and the process itself.
2| Be Thankful - It (the mistake) could have slipped passed you entirely, but at whatever point you caught it, you did! Now, it’s time to unleash your praise and thanks for catching it when you did! Releasing this positive energy into the atmosphere will come back to you! You will attract positivity to continue moving forward!
1| Do Your Best! Your best is all you need. But doing your best means being honest with yourself! Are you really giving this your all? How can you give more? What specifically should be done?
Remember, no one is perfect, but we can maintain a high level of integrity and standards for ourselves in which we decide to operate.
Mistakes are the same as college experience — something you have to pay for and that’s invaluable to your long term success! When you make a mistake, whether it’s an oopsy, boo-boo, or a full fledge “IT hit the fan” the best part is the worst part is generally over. It is also an indicator you discovered a way of NOT doing something and in that philosophy you are in the company of some pretty brilliant minds.
Do the research and search the internet for Business Owner failures. You’ll quickly discover the flubs, many great businessmen and women have made and the most important part — Their Comeback!
Essential Oil: My Facial Obsession & How to Be Sure Yours Is Pure
ESSENTIAL OIL: MY FACIAL OBSESSION &
HOW TO BE SURE YOURS IS PURE

Magazine: Issue #19
That's right, I put oil on my face.... EVERYDAY... twice a day!
I know what you're thinking: "Oil? On my face? My already very oily face? What? I can't, I need Oil-Free!" I used to think the EXACT same thing and actually you couldn't be more further from the truth.
Certain essential oils actually soak in and sooth your face, they don't lay on top and clog pores. These are a few of them:
- Rosehip Oil
- Virgin Grapeseed Oil
- Sea Buckthorn Oil
- Virgin Argan Nut Oil
- Marula Oil
- Meadowfoam Seed Oil
- Rose Otto Oil
You may be wondering why coconut oil is on not the list. I do use it as a body moisturizer, but it makes my face break out, it has a relatively high comedogenic rating which means it is very likely to clog pores so I keep it away from my face at least on a full a full force raw level.
So how do you know what Essential Oil to buy and which is good for your face?
The biggest problem on the market today is that there are many impostors.
Essential oils fall under the regulations of all other cosmetic ingredients. So there are no industry standards that test for the actual quality and purity of essential oils. The only standard is, that there has to be 10% of the actual oil in a bottle to be labeled 100% pure. That is very misleading. However it also explains why one bottle of “x” essential oil is $60 but the one next to it is $15. Just like anything else in life….you get what you pay for.
So what else shows up in there the bottle does not contain the oil you intended to buy? To fill up that other 90% in an untested bottle you might get one or more of these:
1| Carrier Oil - vegetable oil, almond oil, olive oil (all good oils perhaps for other reasons but not good to dilute with essential oils.)
2| Synthetic Oil - a genetically manufactured product that acts like the original
3| Residue of Plant - you might be getting other impurities of the plant, in addition to your oil. Example: Rose oil may come with a little leaf or stem oil as well.
4| Pesticides - the plants you are getting your oils from may have been sprayed with chemicals, depending on where they are from.
Just like all of your other personal products you HAVE to buy from a company you trust so you know that you are getting what you pay for. It's so VERY important.
Here my three favorites and what they do:
The # 1 has Calendula added and is best for acne prone skin.
The #2 has Jasimine added which promotes skin elasticity.
The #3 has Ylang Ylang & Chamomile added which helps sensitive or what I like to call "angry skin" aka (eczema, psoriosis, rosacia...etc.)
These oils retail for $64/bottle or you can save and get all three for $175. Each bottle should last you six months with daily use. You only need a drop or two to cover your face.
I know what's in my essential oils. Do you know what's in yours? Be Informed. Be Safe. Be Healthy.

As we move into the holiday season and winter, many find it difficult to keep their energy up with all the added demands and less sunshine.
Below are three herbs that can assist you in keeping your energy levels up so your productivity can shine!
Rhodiola
This is an herb that is a staple in my herbal arsenal; it is in the adaptogenic category of herbs and helps our body to adapt to stress, maintain balance in the body and increase energy, stamina and mental capacity! If this herb was good enough for the Soviet astronauts then it is certainly good enough for me!
Ashwagandha
This is another adaptogenic herb. It helps lessen stress by lessening the body’s fight or flight response; this helps the body have more energy.
Yerba Mate
This is a wonderful tea that is packed full of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, polyphenols and antioxidants! It is a wonderful energy booster. Yerba mate can be bitter tasting but you can add some peppermint or spearmint leaves to the blend to mask some of the bitterness. You can also sweeten it with raw local honey!!
So, don’t let the winter blahs get you down- stock up on your favorite energy boosting herbs and keep your entrepreneurial brilliance shining bright!
What is Your Resistance Teaching You? 4 Steps to Uncovering Your Brilliance in Business and Life
WHAT IS YOUR RESISTANCE TEACHING YOU?
4 STEPS TO UNCOVERING YOUR BRILLIANCE IN BUSINESS AND LIFE

Magazine: Issue #19
In every moment of your day you have a choice. You always have a choice. What if you decided to look at your resistance as part of the process, not just another crappy day?
Resistance is an offering from the universe, and just like anything else, you can take it and use it to learn from, or you can turn the other cheek and complain about the raw deal you’ve been dealt.
Just think back on a time when it felt so much easier to go into the drama of it all. How hurt you were. How mean ‘they’ were to you. How unfair it was. Sometimes it feels good to go there but if you step into that territory for too long it can get ugly and stay ugly. Just because it’s easy doesn’t mean it’ll make you feel good.
Here’s what I recommend you try instead. Look at your resistance with honesty. Breathe into it. Notice it. Take it on a field trip out into the great big world. Hold resistance’s hand. Get familiar with being uncomfortable and ask yourself lots of questions about why it feels uncomfortable, scary, unsafe, or confusing to look at.
1. Set a safe foundation and look at the resistance from a neutral place. Breathe and center yourself. This will help clear your mind as you look at the situation with a fresh perspective. Remind yourself that all you need is the willingness to look at the situation – no action required other than honesty.
2. Ask yourself questions that will help you to get into the honest mindset. Journalling is really helpful, otherwise put a hand on your heart and breathe deep as you ask yourself these or similar questions:
Why is this resistance coming up today?
What am I afraid will happen if things go my way?
What am I afraid I’ll need to let go of or change about myself if I step into this change?
What’s the worst case scenario vs. my best outcome?
3. Create a relationship with your intuition. I teach all of my clients to use their intuition and when they are first learning it’s common to push against the first information they hear because it might be very simple and matter of fact. The first information that comes to you is what you most need to hear. Don’t deny, distrust or brush it off because you think your intuition has ‘bigger’ things to say.
4. Understand that resistance is a necessary part of the process. Resistance is your teacher, your guide, your friend moving you toward your greatest brilliance. The tug of war you feel is coming to the surface because you have the great opportunity to step into the next phase of your learning. If you can get past these feelings, to the other side of why you need to go through it, it becomes easier to come to your own conclusions, ask for support, and take action leading with your heart.

Want to Build an Empire? Better Make Time for Your Girls
WANT TO BUILD AN EMPIRE? BETTER MAKE TIME FOR YOUR GIRLS

So, you want to make a difference in the world? Help raise the vibration of the planet? Well, Gorgeous, one of the most important things you should be doing is cultivating some QT (quality time) with your besties. And, let's get real, this is also probably the one thing you are neglecting because you are out there trying to change the world. I mean, your friends will always be there and you've got some serious world dominating to do, right? Mmmmmm, yes and no.
Yes, your friends will always be there. But, only if you continue nourishing your friendships. Just because things were easy peasy when acid wash jeans were all the rage (the 1st time), doesn't mean that your relationships will continue to grow if you neglect them.
The bonds that you maintain on your rise to building your empire will not only help keep you sane, they are necessary ingredients in ANY recipe for success.
I don't know about you, but my close Soul Sisters can often be my muses when I am descended upon by hideous, creativity-sucking, time-stealing banshees (AKA the always-dreaded writer's block). Even when I think I couldn't possibly make time to talk with my girls (IE: when I'm up to my eyeballs in deadlines for work or behind on my writing), I'm always wrong. When I think I don't have time, it's generally because I've started procrastinating or I'm feeling stuck in my path. This then leads to feelings of not having time for anything “fun”. As in, if it's not helping me to build my business RIGHT NOW, then I just can't do it. Ever feel like that? As if the moment you take your eyes off of changing the world (even for one tiny little nanosecond) that everything will fall apart and you'll be back at step one?
Well, good news fellow Paradigm Shifters. By nourishing the bonds of friendship, you are taking care of YOU.
And you can't run the world if you're neglecting the amazing Shero that is you. So, allow time with your girlfriends to be a part of your weekly routine. When you skip this QT you're not only hurting yourself, you're also doing an injustice to all of the people you are meant to help. By making time for your friends, you're making time for yourself. You are fully showing up for yourself which, in turn, allows you to fully show up in the world.
