A BUSINESS CULTURE OF YOUR DREAMS

Instead of looking for what you want, create it. I am a strong believer of creating your own rules, ideas and concepts. Why not? Creativity is everything! Some of us have spent years trying to find the perfect group, tribe, or culture that resonate with our souls. The perfect group that understands our rhythm and flow or should I say, speaks our language. Instead of chasing, or sitting back wanting and dreaming, create a culture of your own for your brand and business. A culture that will empower people to have more freedom within themselves.

Creating solutions instead of problems.

As an entrepreneur, there is nothing sweeter than having the freedom to create. When building your empire, it’s not about micromanaging. It’s simply about encouraging and building a team who will be more involved in the brand itself by having the ability to create speak and create freely. The more freedom individuals have to take on tasks and create their own solutions, the more they feel connecting to a culture that they can believe in.
Creating a culture that will include a communication style based on mutual respect. With a well-designed structure, we all can create magic within our assignments and contribution to the overall vision.

My passion with any project would be increasing team ownership and empowerment. I thrive off teams who are free to apply judgment to situations that fall outside your traditional rule of thumb. Although I promote creativity and freedom, this also requires balance. We do not want to leave the team unclear about taking ownership.

Five Steps to Creating your dream business Culture

1 :: Be a Leader
Lead by example of course. The more you speak on your vision, you will become closer to your reality.

2 :: Become your vision
Everyone is looking to you for guidance so with that being said stand in your truth and become your vision.

4 :: Learn Balance
If you want your business to thrive, you must find balance in order to succeed. Example: Inquire about how much fun your team has while working with you. A rating system would be ideal!  When you’re able to track this information, you can talk about what to do to improve going forward.  Note: This is great for clients as well.

5 :: Token of Appreciation
A common problem in every business is showing appreciation. Verbal or Tangible! In some cases, the issue is just an absence of acknowledgement. Take the time to acknowledge those who support you and dedicate their time to the vision.

Remember, it’s about how well our words match our deeds. Thanks for taking the time to connect with me.

Friends with the Monster: The Time Has Come for You to Live Your Art

FRIENDS WITH THE MONSTER:
THE TIME HAS COME FOR YOU TO LIVE YOUR ART

Friends With The Monster

Friends With The Monster

Article By Nikka Karli

Magazine: Issue #30

There you are. Sitting alone in your room. The scariest monster you’ve ever encountered is under your bed, gnashing its hideous teeth and sliding its creepy alien fingers along your bare skin.

But this monster- the one who has you plugging your ears and squeezing your eyes shut so tightly you’re seeing stars- is not, in reality, a monster at all.

This monster is your Ultimate Dream.

And you are so scared by the very IDEA of said dream that you are, at present, curled up into the fetal position sucking your thumb and crying for your mommy. Just wishing someone would come and take your Ultimate Dream away so you don’t have to think about it for more bed-wetting second.

Except- EXCEPT- you know in your heart of hearts that if you actually lost this dream that you might completely fade away from all space and time.

And you know that no matter how scary this dream is, it is your reason for being on this planet, at this time, in this place.

For without this dream your soul would be incomplete. And your life would become a vast wasteland of mediocrity. And carpooling minivans. And boring lingerie that doesn’t even turn YOU on. And ugly Christmas sweater parties where you get to feign laughter at your husband’s boss’s ridiculously inappropriate jokes. And one craptastic vacation every other year. Oh. And, perhaps worst of all, watching other people build their dreams while you sit back and try to remember a time when you yourself had more than just a fleeting memory of your own.

And that version of life? Well, I don’t know about you, but that hot mess of a reality is simply unacceptable to me.

So, what’s a rebel-thought leader-dreamer-creator-world changer to do?
Roll over, play dead, and let the monster have its way with you?
Well. Yes, actually. That’s EXACTLY what you should do.

Because it is only by surrendering completely to your Ultimate Dream that you will ever give it permission to become your reality. It is only when we give ourselves over to the great, big, scary void of creativity that we are capable of not only making friends with the monster, but BECOMING the monster.

What does it mean to become the monster {AKA your Ultimate Dream}?

It means that your life is no longer an unsatisfying accumulation of the mundane tasks and self-limiting comfort zones with which we occupy ourselves to distract us from the fact that we are not living our art.

It means that your name will be forever written along the magical ley lines of the Soul of the Universe.

It means that you- yes you- will have faced your demons, nourished them with love and gratitude, and chosen to embrace them in spite of your fears. You will have not only accepted your monster, you will have become the walking, talking, breathing embodiment of your divinity. For our creativity- which is the active invocation of our Ultimate Dream- is, in all essence, divine.

It is the vast expanse of the ancient ones that runs through our blood.
It is our strength and our weakness. Our light and our dark. Our truth and our faults.
It is our greatness.

We must never forget that when we fight our monster, we are fighting ourselves. And nothing great has ever come from an artist fighting her art. From a leader fighting the fact that they are meant to lead. Or from a creator refusing to create.

So, this is your invitation to surrender, Lover. To give yourself over to your own monster. To allow your life to become the sacred magic that is your Ultimate Dream.

This is your wake up call. Your monster is waiting.

3 Reasons to Meditate as an Entrepreneur

Three Reasons To Meditate As An Entrepreneur

Three Reasons To Meditate As An Entrepreneur

3 REASONS TO MEDITATE AS AN ENTREPRENEUR

Article by John Scardina

Magazine: Issue #30

Meditation has been around forever and we all know the benefits of its practice. The mindful relaxation and clarity that it brings to our mind, body, and spirit.

As entrepreneurs, we often struggle through our day looking for that mindful peace, and seldom make time for it. After all, there are clients, products, marketing, and at least thousands of other fruitful projects bouncing throughout our mind. As a business owner, you do not have the same mindset as your regular nine to five employee. We push, we strive, we plan, we conspire (in a good way); all of this to become successful. We do not run at full speed only eight hours a day and go home and try to forget the previous hours- we sometimes wake up in the middle of the night and start a project or new business plan. Because it is fresh in our mind and now is always the right time.

We become our business and our business becomes us, it is a spiritual journey always evolving into what our minds have created prior to any physical action. After all, we are the power that is regarded as inspiring a poet, artist, thinker, or the entrepreneur.

1| Seeing your business from the inside or with your inner self
During meditation you are removing all external noise and forces that will conflict during your normal day. While meditating and mindfully bringing your business into your relaxed quite thoughts, you can process each individual component of your business and bring it to the forefront and evaluate it without stress. This allows you to really see the life or energy that each portion of your business holds clearly viewing in what direction it will grow or which direction you choose that it will grow.

2| Gain mental clarity for major decisions
We all struggle with major decisions from time to time. Making these decisions quickly during the normal course of an extremely busy day is not always the best time to act or decide. These quick types of responses will always carry energy that is already part of your day and may not be the energy you want attached. Meditating on major decisions will allow you to be in a relaxed state and bring a calm clarity to all factors affecting your choices prior to making any decision.

3| Combine your business into your being, don’t just leave it as something you own or run
Meditating on all aspects of your business can create a bond that creates an energy between you and your business that will eventually become one living organism. This, once achieved, balances out all future ventures and decisions, as you will start making decisions about the business easily and not as an outsider.

Admittedly this does take practice, and sometimes most of us think we are short of time, but the result makes you your business, and your business you. One cohesive force that is firmly connected, nurtured, and in tune with your future success. Try it!

Creative Edge: How to Be Your Own Muse

How to Be Your Own Muse

CREATIVE EDGE: HOW TO BE YOUR OWN MUSE

Article by Cinthia Singleton
Photo Credit: Dasha & Mari
Magazine: Issue #30

The relationship between the artist and their muse gives us a buzz. F. Scott and Zelda. John and Yoko. Andy and Edie. One magical being for each artiste and, BAM, a meaningful tie to our own work as never existed before in the solitary garret. Sign you up, creative one? Well, why not? Who doesn’t want a tangible connection to their process? Of course with all that sizzle what you’re working on will be great and there’ll be the exhibition or book deal, whatever. Energy, traction… MOMENTUM. Ah, the muse. They seem to give us a voice, know how to carry us to the finish line, the whole while wiping away the tears, applying salves and loving us. A muse doesn’t necessarily have to be a lover, but someone who demands, and gets, the keys to our artistic soul in exchange for a map to our greatness.

Don’t believe the hype.

Creativity is a lot of work and all it promises is that and lots of personal fulfillment if you hang in there. Problem is, it can be one darn lonely process full of [waiting, pondering, procrastinating, hoping and praying for signs] and many of us find that we CAN’T do it simply, or simply can’t [concentrate, think, move forward, enjoy the process warts and all]. This is why we want to find a muse. They make a tough mountain easier, safer to scale.

The reality is not all of us will have a magical muse in our creative lives. In fact, gifts aren’t meant to miraculously emerge from behind the barriers but are mined from within. A muse, if there is one, is, like a lot of things in life, a PART of the plan; creative people are meant to encounter a SERIES of people and experiences to guide them; creativity is about a life of living and our creativity is a life force that contributes to it. How deeply or intimately, depends on timing, how open we are, what we need to learn at a particular point in time. They come to us in the form of a new friend who reads that first chapter, a new technique we learn or a book we read. They are the people who might listen for a moment or say something that illuminates a left turn over a right. Places we visit open us up to new experiences. These possibilities are infinite. We let them in. 'Till they do, stick with the boring part of the plan:

1 :: Stop talking about it and do it
2 :: Stay in the [ chair, room, studio ] for a set amount of time every day
3 :: Learn to enjoy 99% of the process, steps large and small
4 :: Be forgiving when 1% of the process hurts
5 :: Believe something good comes from each day, ‘bad’ or ‘good’
6 :: Maintain composure while struggling with new ideas
7 :: Learn the tricks that will enable you to ‘work around’ particular process bug-a-boos
8 :: Work daily

If you need more than this, it’s ego and there’s no place for that in the process unless you want to quit. 8 steps. You, yourself and you are the ore being mined. It’s GOLD not fool’s. So stop looking for the muse. They might SEEM like the most amazing gift personified but it’s really YOU and that’s already in you.

The Secret to Finding the Best Mentor

THE SECRET TO FINDING THE BEST MENTOR
{The Ultimate Success Strategies}

The Secret To Finding The Best Mentor

The Secret To Finding The Best Mentor

If you have read the book “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill, then you know the importance he places on mentoring. Napoleon’s conclusion was that, if you want to grow beyond where you are presently in any area of your life, mentoring is a must to proceed in a timely fashion.

I cannot stress enough to you how important mentorship is. Once I made the decision to take action and hire a mentor, my life changed tremendously, as if all-of-a-sudden I was in the flow with the Universe for the first time; we were in sync and synchronicities became a norm in my life…Keep reading if you want the secret, it’s not all about the mentor…

There are many factors that Napoleon mentions on importance of mentorship, but I want to address the top 3 Success Strategies:

Success Strategy 1| Always Listen to your IGS
IGS stands for Internal Guidance System. Simply put, your gut instinct or your intuition. This needs to become your #1 mentor before any other mentor in your life. Being able to respect your mentor’s teachings, yet being able to discern what is best for you in the end. Using your IGS is imperative to your success and moving forward. Being able to tap into this innate knowledge of your soul is one of the more important strategies you should use in everything you do.

Success Strategy 2| Hire a Mentor that Values Himself or Herself
Remember you are hiring a mentor to emulate their energy, their values, and their genius. If your mentor is not currently valuing himself or herself by asking what they are worth, then how do you expect to ask for what you are worth? If the person that is guiding you has a hard time doing it, then you might want to ask yourself if they are the right mentor for you.

There are a lot of mentors that are still having a hard time valuing themselves and what they have to offer. This becomes contagious and you may find it hard to value yourself or your work for your mentor will be guiding you from a place of lack.

When you are unable to see your worth than the world does not see it either.

Hire someone that has a good sense of value, self love and self-worth. You can always learn other pieces you need from others, but this one is something that can not be learned it has to be cracked open and only a great mentor can guide your inner self-worth out to shine to the world. After that everything starts falling into place.

Success Strategy 3| Making Authenticity your Mantra
There are a lot of mentors out there that are not authentic. They may put on a face that they are at first, until you find out that their whole program was someone else’s, just tweaked to use as their own.

Do your research on the mentors you want to work with. Start with connecting to your own IGS and see what it tells you- you know your first instinct is usually correct. When you feel that uneasy feeling when someone talks about something… This is your IGS in overdrive screaming run the other way!

Authenticity is key. This will be the key to your own success in life and business and it is key in finding the perfect mentor.

When they are not connecting with you at your level and come off as too perfect, they are inauthentic. They are not confident in what they do, so they can’t be authentic. When a mentor is confident in who they are and what they do there is no need for them to be inauthentic. They simply know that by being their authentic true selves, what needs to be said and created will be.

As you can see, these 3 Success Strategies are not just for hiring a mentor, they are also success strategies to live by on a daily basis.

I want to leave you with one last thought… You are the best mentor that money can by. You know your needs better than anyone else, no matter their education or experience. Always trust your IGS, but be open to mentorship, for it is a must to take you beyond your comfort zone- and this is where the magic happens!

Here’s to YOU, the best mentor you can find and being open to the magic of what unfolds by working with the right mentor.

The 3 Essential Components of Inspiration

The 3 Essential Components Of Inspiration

The 3 Essential Components Of Inspiration

THE 3 ESSENTIAL COMPONENTS OF INSPIRATION

Article by Sophie Mihalko
Photo Credit: Dasha & Mari
Magazine: Issue #30

In her 2009 TED Talk's, Elisabeth Gilbert describes how inspiration is often something outside of ourselves that we somehow need to invite in.

We often get our best ideas in the shower, while driving a car, or even washing dishes, which is very frustrating since we don’t have anything to record or write with.

So, let’s use the example of the shower and investigate what the conditions are that allows inspiration to strike so often!

1 :: We are not thinking
Most of us know how to take a shower, drive a car, and do the dishes without thinking about it. NO THINKING allows inspiration to come faster than if we are. Why? It’s simple- A thought is the repetition of something we know or have experienced. Inspiration is something that does not exist yet, so it just cannot be in the same environment as a repetition of something that already exists.

Meditation or Access The Bars® are a great way to have a blank mind. Find your way to clear your thoughts.

2 :: We are relaxed
The hot water, the repetitive movements, the condition of the shower itself is relaxing. When the body does not make strenuous movements (but still moves), inspiration is much more likely to strike. We are now in full mode of “receiving”, like a blank slate. The body is open to the information. Ruth Stone, the famous American poet often described how she felt poems “passing” through her body.

Taking a walk in nature, stretching, receiving a massage, or eating the foods that nurture our bodies are perfect ways to relax as well.

3 :: We are not judging ourselves or others
Usually we do not judge ourselves for the way we take a shower. We also do not judge the shower. In this space of non-judgement, where nothing is wrong, bad, big or small, inspiration can come. It will find a fertile ground where a seed can be planted without the risk to be modified or pushed away.

Judging ourselves not only creates stress, but it also prevents our creativity to blossom. Therefore, even if you are your “worst critic”, adopting a technique to stop self-judgement as soon as it is noticed is critical in developing new ideas.

If you apply these three components and recreate them at any time, you will eventually be able to get inspired any time you choose to be.

How to Enjoy Life after Divorce

HOW TO ENJOY LIFE AFTER DIVORCE

Article by Camille Ditele

Magazine: Issue #30

Thinking about having a life after divorce can be overwhelming and daunting for those who are suddenly cast into undertaking this situation; most tend to become fearful of what the future may hold. Honestly, it is really hard to consider how you can enjoy your life after divorce since this is such a hard situation to overcome. However, the most common problem of every person who endures this journey is they don’t know what to do to move forward and enjoy their life. So, how and what are the things that you may do?

Divorce by no means is easy to overcome. Listed below are some things you might consider in order to help you embrace your newfound independence:

||Think about your emotional steadiness
Divorce is truly a hard thing and whether you are going through it or you already have, your emotional steadiness is essential since you may tend to be somewhat off kilter after undertaking such an emotional ordeal. Always keep in mind that life after divorce could possibly be a struggle. However, you must also realize that you will create better times in your life. Through facing this situation~ you can begin your fast track towards a happy life.

||Try to look at the bright side
Think on a positive side. Remember that this is not an ending; rather it is just a new beginning for a better life. Having an optimistic mental attitude about your new beginning will create a big difference in enjoying everyday life. Life after divorce might be implausible and it might also be hard, if you don’t remain optimistic about what’s in front of you.

||Surround yourself with the people who have your best interest at heart
Most people begin a new relationship with anyone because they are lonely. Sparking a relationship whether it is friendly or romantic with everyone & anyone who will spend time with you may contribute to more sadness after divorce. So be very careful and selective when getting your feet wet in this area.

||Spend time doing things you like and enjoy every week
Make sure to spend some of your time in making yourself happy after divorce. Don’t forget to stop and smell the roses. At least once a week, take the time to go and do something that you really enjoy doing. If you don’t know what this is, well its time to figure that out don’t you think?

||Set definite objectives and execute a plan to attain those objectives
In order to assure that you feel better about yourself and enjoy the feeling that triumph brings, think about an objective or set objectives that you’ve always had but never attained. After that, prioritize those objectives and work out a plan to attain them, one by one. Let that plan be executed and then glory in your accomplishment and celebrate once you’ve reached your goal.

Creating your life after your divorce is a logical and sound thing to do in order to be blissful and have the life you desire. Your life doesn’t need to be a continuation of the hurt that you might have gone through. Start a new beginning by being optimistic and implementing what brings you joy.
