Stress Less and Create More Success

Stress Less and Create More Success

Every woman in business works hard and because of our many roles, we often manage more demanding pressures than dudes in business. Push too hard for too long and you become a weary, dreary creature.

Creating respite from your business isn’t negotiable – it is one of the keys to success. Understanding your personal energy style, taking time and fashioning space that allows you to relax and recharge is a hallmark of the Holistic Fashionista.  Here’s what to do:

Know your Personal Energy Archetype™

In my business practice I use an ancient eco-science to provide my clients with the keys to their energy blueprint, the energetic template given to you at the moment of your birth. Your personal manifestation of the energy patterns create your Personal Energy Archetype, which is unique to you.

Why is knowing your Personal Energy Archetype™ helpful?

When you understand your Personal Energy Archetype you can align your business (and your life) with your authentic self. You see how you show up in the world – and how you respond to your environment. When you learn to work with your personal energy style, you become more authentic and more powerful in your life and your business – and you honor your nature, not work against it.

Order is peacefulness. A messy desk doesn’t encourage productivity. Create systems to streamline your workflow. Feng shui your office and your home. Enlist an organizer to help tame the clutter. This is not woo-woo nonsense. Scientists have found that clutter has a negative effect on our ability to focus and process information. Clean up the piles, the files and your calendar and you’ll be on your way to more peace and calm – in your business and your life.

Give yourself the gift of time.  All work and no respite make for a very dull and drained entrepreneur. Take time to nurture yourself. Meditate, get a massage, read a book. Spending time in a relaxed state provides many benefits. It can counter adverse effects of stress like hypertension, anxiety and aging, but it gives you more. It helps you to be more creative and more productive. Notice how great ideas come when you’re in the shower or hop off the meditation cushion? Your brain and your intuition benefit from downtime. Instead of fearing taking time away from your business to relax, make an effort to chill. It’s an investment in yourself and your business.

Know thyself. And create regular time and space for respite and relaxation in your business. These are secrets to success – in your business and your life.

FUEL YOUR BUSINESS WITH THESE 4 STRATEGIES

Fire is a change agent. It can turn ordinary metal ores into gorgeous art, transform water into mist, or make dust from a tree. We can find opportunities to grow our business when we learn to harness the energy cycle of fire.

Many entrepreneurs tend to focus on the flame, the big stuff that happens in business. These are the catalysts that can vault you and your biz to new levels. Experiencing this type of energy in your business is awesome. Your beautiful new website has just gone live.  A publisher calls. Your product is being profiled in Oprah. It’s invigorating, affirming, and … infrequent.

When we fixate on the blaze, we can miss opportunities that exist in the entire cycle of fire which can support our business for the long haul. While we strive for more fiery opportunities in our business, the reality is that they’re only one part of the cycle of fire. Look to the other aspects of this energy that exist within your business. You’ll find new fuel for your business as you harness The Cycle of Fire.

Sparks...

They birth flames. Can you strike out with a new product or service, share a blog article that pushes the edge in your industry, or do some brand tweaking to better align you with your biz? These are actions you create that can set your business on fire.

Glowing embers...

A constant source of heat in your business. Look at where you’ve got traction in your business. That signature program that consistently delivers results for your clients. The conversations you and your tribe community are engaged around. The leveraged online program that sells while you’re sleeping. These keep the lights – and the heat – on in your business. Find what’s glowing and keep it stoked.

Fire...

A source of heat, light and transformation. Spectacular, awe-inspiring, light-up-the-sky kind of opportunities are the flaming fire in your business. This is the segment of the Cycle that puts you on the proverbial map, and can propel you and your business skyward. Like successful product launches, amazing PR opps and hitting a best-seller list. Make a bonfire. Bring out the s’mores and champagne.

Ashes...

The by-product of transformation. We may think of ashes as the waste from fire, but they’re really the end of one cycle and the beginning of another. There’s gold in that dust. Be like an archeologist and examine the ashes for new life in your business. A successful product or service offering that has run its course can become a free offer or bonus that adds value to your clients while they engage in other work that you offer.

It’s OK to be drawn to the fiery aspects in your business, just don’t forget the riches within the other expressions of fire. Learn to harness all of the manifestations of fire energy in your business to fuel your success. Your business looks good aglow.

Alchemy, the ancient chemistry that changed base metals into gold, drew from female Goddess Wisdom for the inspiration to transform one compound into another. Words and images that evoke female goddesses, saints and sages infuse the pages of alchemy manuscripts of old.

What did these women possess that helped wizards and magicians to catalyze their chemistry? Women have the ability to create, relate and change. These are qualities required to make alchemy – transformation.

Business provides a transformation for the client. Whether you sell skin creams to reduce wrinkles, a coaching program that helps replace old thoughts and behaviors with updated ones, or jewelry that makes a ho-hum outfit dynamite, every business delivers an experience of change to their client.

Entrepreneur, you are an alchemist!

You have great power as a woman to change the world, especially from the platform of business owner/entrepreneur. The world needs enlightened, holistic entrepreneurs like never before. This is your time and as a woman, you bring unique gifts to business. Here are just a few.

Creator.

Women bring new creations into the world. We birth babies, ideas and ideals. Because of the bond we share with our creations, we care for these with a maternal instinct. We know what is required to nurture our babes and we will fight with all our might to protect our progeny. Women have an especially good sense of right timing, and we possess an innate sensitivity that understands the feelings, emotions and needs of others.
These skills of creatrix, mother and nurturer have incredible management applications. Can you see them? Claim these gifts as a natural business Goddess in your own venture.

Collaborator.

Women are expert collaborators. While our cavemen were away hunting woolly mammoths we tended the tribe at home, working together to ensure our network functioned smoothly, safely and efficiently. Networking, forming teams and collaborating are skills that come naturally to most women. They are the same skills that are required for business leadership, especially in the new age. Several high-profile business gurus have written that feminine leadership skills, especially collaboration, are required for today’s CEOs and business leaders.

Power up your business with your skills of collaboration, in person and through social media. Make relationships. Build and tend your network. Forge alliances.

Change Agent.

Each month a woman is transformed through her menstrual cycle. We understand change intuitively, and if you run a business, you know that change is a constant.

Business follows a cycle and when you understand the phases you can run your business with more success, and ease. You’ll know when to add resources, like a new online selling platform or a VA, when to scale back (an older premium product is ready to be re-packed as the easy on-ramp for new clients) and when to blow something up and reinvent. Be an agent of the right kind of change in your business.

You are a wizard, a magician, an alchemist in your business. Whatever your business, you create transformation for your clients. As a woman, you bring unique gifts to entrepreneurship. Harness your Girl Superpowers and transform the world, one client at a time.

The Holistic Path to Your Next Big Idea

THE HOLISTIC PATH TO YOUR NEXT BIG IDEA

Holistic Path to Your Next Big Idea

Holistic Path to Your Next Big Idea

In our go-go world, it seems that successful folks simply pop or drop into their brilliant idea or business. It may look like they’ve achieved instant success, but the truth is, there’s foundational work to be done on the way to your next big thing. Oh, and PS: it’s an inside job.

It’s easy to get lost in the warp speed world of business, with its heavy dose of masculine and addiction to high energy. What can get lost is the (w)holistic path to your next big thing. In order to move forward, you’ve got to go within. Here’s the Integrative Living Design perspective.

Place your idea in the Cosmic Womb. Whatever you are ruminating in your heart or head, give it over to the Great Mother of All Things. Divine inspiration and guidance are two of the gifts you’ll receive when you let the cosmic womb of your higher consciousness work.

I’ve had clients who write their idea on a piece of paper, literally plant that in a potted plant or garden, and then turn it over to the cosmos. Just like a seed germinating in the earth, your ideas need time to be nurtured, to gather energy, to stretch. All before they emerge above the surface.

Shhhh. While things are gestating, preserve the energy of your idea by keeping it to yourself. Often we get excited and we want to share our idea with a friend or colleague, however, this dissipates the energy. Not to mention that a well-meaning but critical comment could send you and your confidence off the tracks.

Until you’re ready for primetime, don’t share. There will be ample time to gather folks round your campfire to discuss, tweak, etc., but in the fragile time of your idea’s birthing, keep it quiet.

Walk through liminal space. Liminal comes from the Latin word for “a threshold.” Liminal space is that delicate place between where things have been percolating quietly and the open air. Many people struggle with this in-between time. It’s messy and a little uncomfortable as you learn new ways of being and doing. Instead of fighting, embrace this sacred space. Understand that you’re entering new terrain, that you can’t and don’t know everything yet, and that in the uncertainty lies potential. Walk through that space, confidently and with trust in your abilities. So much lies across that threshold.

The holistic path to your next step begins with a focus inward. By taking the time to go inward, you allow your idea to crystallize and energize. It will emerge into the world|marketplace in right timing and with great strength.

21 Resources for Business & Life

21 Resources for Business & Life

Ideas are the currency of the future. As a Holistic Fashionista, your ability to come up with great ideas and turn them into things your customers need and will buy is key to your livelihood.

Going to the well for innovative ideas doesn’t have to be difficult. Here are some places to look for new and exciting ideas.

1| Your competitors. Do what they do, differently or better.

2| Your own life. What would make your life easier? What pisses you off? What problem needs to be solved? Solutions to these may make your life better while also being the answer to your clients’ challenges.

3| Kids. Inspirational fonts.

4| Nature. Take a walk outside or watch The Blue Planet. Did you know bees are a great model for business operations?

5| Your employees. They see things you may not.

6| Brainstorming sessions. Duh.

7| Customers. They can help you spot and develop new products, services or maybe even a new industry. Listen to their feedback.

8| Focus groups. Gather a posse of potential clients and let ‘em riff. Take notes.

9| Meditation. Quieting a busy mind allows Divine sparks to light up your life.

10| Play ball. Spin, or shake your Zumba. Studies show that those who exercise regularly score higher on creativity tests than their couch potato peers.

11| Other industries. Can you morph what they’re doing into something unique for your business?

The Club

12| Sci-Fi. Or other movies. Seriously. Good. Inspiration.

13| Books. Be a voracious reader. Ideas live in every genre.

14| Be present to life. Simply paying attention to your daily experience will show you opportunities.

15| Make art. Do improv, or learn a musical instrument. Opening your creative side will make you more aware and receptive to new things, including ideas.

16| Hang with smart people. Take them to lunch, go to a Science Pub Night or Poetry Slam or chat up a new FaceBook group.

17| Make some new friends. Ideally outside your industry. Cross-pollination, different perspectives and such.

18| Take a class. At your local community college, Udemy, etc. In your field -- or something wildly different.

19| Look at existing products with a fresh eye. The “patch” as a delivery system for drugs is a spiffed up Band-Aid. What can you transfer to your biz?

20| Get out of Dodge. Someplace foreign is best. Psychologists say multicultural experiences facilitate the complex cognitive processes behind innovative thinking. That’s a nice souvenir.

21| Give yourself a test. Being open to new ideas means your mind has to be plastic. Pop quiz: Think of as many uses for a brick? A strand of tinsel? How many uses you come up with, the originality and elaborateness of your ideas are key. “Testing” yourself may just shine light on some great insight for your business.

7 Secrets to Mastering Your Success

7 SECRETS TO MASTERING YOUR SUCCESS

Mastering Your Success

Mastering Your Success

Article by Kimberly Ward Manning

Magazine: Issue #23

Mastery is defined as accomplished knowledge or control over something. It is not “able to do.” I can play the piano, however, Alicia Keys has mastery over the piano. That’s not to say that at some point I won’t master the ivories.

Whatever it is that you’re looking to gain superiority over, here are some secrets you need to know.

1| 10,000 hours. In his book Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell speaks of a “Law of Deliberate Success,” that in order to be world class at something, one needs to invest a lot of time (about 10,000 hours) in that endeavor. If you want to get really good, get busy.

2| Divine guidance. Hard work is one way to success. While it may sound woo-woo, access to your gifts through the Divine is also possible. Think child prodigies and HH Dalai Lama.

3| The path to mastery is paved with some boo-boos. To be successful at anything you must have the courage to make mistakes. “Take chances. Make mistakes. That’s how you grow.” Beautifully said by Mary Tyler Moore.

4| Mastery is its own reward. Sure it’s nice to have the carrot at the end of the stick, however, mastery is an intrinsic carrot. Mastery of anything implies a love of that thing. When we love to do something, extrinsic motivation isn’t necessary. So throw the sticks and veggies aside and get down to doing what you love.

5| Share your gift. How do you know you really rock at something? Teach it. Have you noticed when you show another your skill or talent, not only do you illuminate the other person, but you become really sure of what you know (and what you don’t)? This is service to others, and to your mastered gift.

HF Radio

6| The appreciation of others. When you are world class at something, others notice. People will pay a premium to work with you, buy from you, and they’ll want to hang out with you. Mastery can be a magnet.

7| Master thy self. To get and stay really good at anything requires interest, practice and diligence. Think of it as a fitness program where you’re keeping your mastery in shape. Do what you need to do physically, emotionally and spiritually to keep yourself and your gift sharp.

One who gains mastery will create her own opportunities says a Chinese proverb. Remember these seven secrets as you master your success.

Wildfire vs Foxfire: Which One Will You Use to Grow Your Business?

WILDFIRE VS FOXFIRE: WHICH ONE WILL YOU USE TO GROW YOUR BUSINESS?

Article by Kimberly Manning

Magazine: Issue #21

There are two types of fire that appear in the woods. One is big and brash and can burn your house down, while the other is cold to the touch and glows. Lots of people talk about wildfire, and surely it can move your business to new heights fast. But it’s foxfire that will build your business for the long term.

Managing the burn

Many business owners pine for wildfire to engulf some part of their enterprise – a product featured in Oprah magazine, a PR initiative gone viral or an offering whose demand blows the doors off your PayPal account. Sure, this is awesome and amazing, but it’s not sustainable. Not only is it difficult to manage your business during a wildfire, once the fire burns out, you may be, too. To be truly successful, you need to build your business for the long term.

A different kind of fire

Foxfire is a form of bioluminescence, light emitted from a living organism, which in this case comes from fungi that live on the forest floor. Also called “fairy fire,” foxfire can be dim or bright enough to read by. In folklore, Fairy Fire is magical and its location marks a treasure buried below.

So how do you make foxfire in your business?

Find your magic. What is it that you are, do or sell that is unique? When you have real clarity around your unique brilliance, intersect that with your prospective client community. There lies your buried treasure.

Scour the forest floor of your business to see what’s not working. Yup, take a good look at where things aren’t jiving, where sales are slack and where you’re not congruent with what you’re doing. There is gold in the solutions to these problems and will light up your business.

“Join

Relish a slow, cool burn. It’s easy to get bamboozled by an entrepreneurial and general culture that practically worships wildfire. Resist the temptation. Slower and steadier will build your biz for the long run. You’ll find it easier to focus and plan, aspects of life and business will be more manageable and you will still enjoy the benefits of fire. When you create foxfire in your business you won’t get burned.

Foxfire isn’t as audacious as wildfire, but it will grow your business. And probably not burn you out. If wildfire engulfs your business it will be a wild ride. Foxfire is different. It will illuminate your business from the inside and that’s a longer term strategy.
