In our darkest times, we can still go out into the world and find something of phenomenal beauty. Regardless of any situation that we encounter in life, there is always light at the end of the tunnel and the sun will always make an appearance. There is beauty everywhere and we must take the time to open our eyes and take it in. We are surrounded by so much to fill our hearts and souls for a life time, but one must have patience to endure.

I encourage all Holistic Beauties to wander the world and find that burst of inspiration that will run chills down your spine and form a permanent smile on your face. Perhaps a moment of silence to reflect on what intrigues you, what is it that creates a spark within your bones to gently push you to dive into your day. Is it a person, art, life in itself or maybe it’s ourselves?

My personal quest of finding a muse has been quite intriguing. I tend to switch this creative process every year. It’s more of a hard reset for me. If I begin the year on one muse, whether it’s a person or subject matter, I literally focus on that for one complete year and then the next year will completely different. I’m inspired by constant change. In my world it’s a form of continued growth. My number one suggestion to everyone would be to travel to find your answers. When we travel or we are set out on a quest to find answers, not only do we learn about our surroundings along the way, but we learn about ourselves and how we function in the world. I personally like to think that we inspire each other more than we think. I could clearly travel to another country and be inspired by someone picking grapes to eventually make a fine wine. That person could clearly become the muse of the year to either paint something, write a book, or even pick up a new hobby. We are surrounded by so much beauty and inspiration that we tend to forget.

A prime example could be the Holistic Fashionista Magazine. At first glance of visiting the website, one can experience a rush of inspiration by gazing at the authentic creative layout of colors, designs, and concepts. It is by far a Brand of Inspiration and a burst of vibrancy oozing out of your computer screen. Every single cover is a reflection of Authenticity. This could easily be a muse; whether it’s the creator or the magazine you connect with.

Finding your muse isn’t as hard as you may think. It doesn’t necessarily have to be another human being. It can honestly be yourself. You could be inspired just by being your creative spirit. You also have the option to go on a quest and make your own rules and travel to find that boost of inspiration. Along your trip you may stumble across snippets of what could be the next chapter in your life. Being side-tracked from our path is common, however we should pay serious attention to our instincts. It is super important to open your heart and mind to everything life has to offer.

Think about your quest in detail and ask yourself the following questions:

1 :: Why do I feel the need to find my Muse?
2 :: What will this do for my life?
3 :: What am I willing to do to grab this burst of light?
4 :: Do I currently have a muse? If so what is it or who?
5 :: How soon will I challenge myself to begin my quest?

When your decision is made to begin your quest, I would like to share these helpful tips for you to try on your quest:

Have a liberated lifestyle| Challenge yourself to think outside the box. This will not only boost your confidence but it will allow you to experience more creative energy instead of following the rules all the time.

Spend Time With Creative People|
If you are able to surround yourself with people who value creativity as much as you do, this will get the juices flowing

Listen to your Instincts|
Tell the Micromanager of your emotions to take a back seat. Rules, restrictions, and social norms can put a damper on creativity.  It’s when you’re free within yourself that you’re able to show up in the world. Our emotions always reveal the truth and influences our decisions.

Keep a Journal|
Keep a journal of your experiences that were memorable and exciting. You can always reflect back on this for inspiration that may spark new thoughts and ideas.

Travel & Explore|
This is always a favorite of mine. Move away from the normal routine. Jump out there and explore. Your muse may just be on the other side of your destination. Jump out there!

I wish you the best of luck on your quest to find your muse or to become your own muse. I want to hear about your experience. Don’t be shy, send me a note.

Sing
The act of singing releases endorphins, the brain’s “happy” chemicals.  Let your inner rock star out!  You can create a “my happy theme songs” on your iPod, sing in the shower or heck you could even write your own little happy tune.  Never mind if you don’t have the voice of an angel, Just Sing and release your happy chemicals.

Wear Pink or Yellow
Pink is associated with happiness & romance so if your feeling down in the dumps throw on a pink top and get happy.  In need of some cheering up throw on your yellow sweater and Cheer Up, Butter Cup!  Yellow is associated with inspiration and intelligence.

Play
Take part in an activity that makes you happy- such as riding your bike, swimming, baking, walking and of course Dance.  There is always time for a Dance Break. Have you ever been in a bad mood after you danced?  Shake your groove thang!

Hang out with your besties
Get your girls together (unless your friends suck & bring your mood down. Then go get new friends).  Have some fun with your friends. Eat, Drink & be Merry.

Be Grateful
Make a list of all the things in your life that you are truly grateful for.   Put your focus on what you have at this moment and you’ll surely feel happy with all that you have.

Wake up with a smile.
Wake up with a big smile on your face. By moving your muscles into a smile you will increase endorphins.  You could state a happy positive affirmation to yourself while you are grinning ear to ear.  It could be as simple as “I am Joy” or “My future is always bright and happy. I look at only the bright side of things.”

Laugh
Not just a little chuckle a great belly laugh. Ya know where you laugh so hard you could pee your pants.  You could go to the comedy club (ever see anybody leave there miserable?) Or you could watch some LMAO videos on youtube.

Send yourself Flowers
Research proves that flowers have an effect on a person’s emotional and behavioral state. Flowers are linked to immediate happiness of a person.  You don’t need to wait for somebody to show up at your door with a bouquet.  Call the florist and have them delivered to your office.  You could have the florist write a happy quote on the card.  Don’t want to spend the cash for delivery?  On your way home when you stop off to grab some dinner pick up a beautiful bouquet.

Plan a trip
“Anticipating a trip makes you happier than actually taking the trip.”  Research shows that people planning a vacation are happier than those who aren’t.   Grab some travel brochures and plan “your vaca” or you could create a board on Pinterest.  Have fun with it, plan it as if it is truly happening and soak up those happiness vibes.

3 Simple Ways to Spark Your Creativity

3 SIMPLE WAYS TO SPARK YOUR CREATIVITY

“Every child is an artist, the problem is staying an artist when you grow up.”— Pablo Picasso

When you watch a child approaching a creative project it’s a great reminder of how NOT to overthink something. As adults, professionals, people with responsibility, it is so easy to meticulously plan, over think and get very stuck in the process. Below, I’m going to share 3 seemingly simple things that you can do at least once a day to inspire creative thinking. Why do I say “seemingly simple?” Because, the majority of adults have a list of why they can’t. There really aren’t any good excuses. There are just excuses. I know. I’ve often made those excuses.  “I don’t have the time” is the number one excuse. “I’m not creative” is another common excuse people share with me.

I believe that Creativity is a Birthright. I say it, I practice it, I teach it and I believe it.

And here’s the thing, creativity and creative play increases productivity at work, stimulates your mind, reduces stress, deepens self-awareness, increases problem-solving skills and brings greater joy. All good reasons to justify the time you take for a little creative play.

3 Simple Ways To Act More Like A Child And Spark Your Creativity!

1. Play. Really play. From playing a game like Twister to inviting friends over for a home facial party with temporary tattoos and candy apples to taking out paint and painting with your fingers. Besides the fun factor, you will de-stress and feel connected to others which will absolutely re-energize you when you go back to the more serious business of life.

“We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” -George Bernard Shaw

2. Get outside! When asked about a happy memory as a child, everyone, and I mean everyone, in the Creative Playpenn workshops I lead mentioned being with Nature! Walking, going to the beach, riding your bicycle, gardening… literally, stopping to smell the flowers can clear your mind and benefit your mental and physical health.

“Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you.”- Frank Lloyd Wright

3. Make something. Whether you sit down and paint, sew a pillow, draw a picture or cook a new recipe… create something fresh and new at least once a week.  It will lead to self-discovery, expand your sense of freedom and self- expression. It may not be the thing that makes you rich or famous but it will absolutely bring joy to your life.

"You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have." - Maya Angelou

Mastering Mindfulness: Unleash Your Creativity

MASTERING MINDFULNESS: UNLEASH YOUR CREATIVITY

Mastering Mindfulness:  Unleash Your Creativity

Mastering Mindfulness:  Unleash Your Creativity

Magazine: Issue #26

It's true...When you become more aware of the internal and external world around you, creative flow in your artistic trade and life are limitless. Living ON purpose and with intention exponentially expands your awareness so you can move into a more curious space between the rules of life.

Mastering mindfulness is simply the art of being present.  With the fast-paced existence of the modern world many feel like this is unattainable, but in actuality it is a chronic thinker's best friend.  Mindfulness opens the door to consciousness and heightens your thoughts and feeling by trained observation (and it's not that hard).

90 Seconds To A More Mindful YOU
To see the truth of 'what is' and get out of your thinking brain takes a shift in your approach to any given situation.  One suggestion to step into the space of awareness is to check in with your breath.  Are you breathing deep enough?  This seems like a no-brainer, yet most of us don't take the time to focus on our breath.  A free tool of cleaning out mental cob webs holding back your creativity resides in a deep 4-6 count inhale and even longer count exhale. This technique can take less than two minutes.  As a creative person, your ideas and work require space to breath and new ideas to flow.

Roar of Silence-  Sensory Awareness
Most of the time creative blocks form because you're caught in a vicious cycle of fear, negative thoughts and bad habits.  You think you know truth when your imagination runs wild, but most of the time you are fueling your anxiety and stress with perceived truths about others and the world around you. A simple technique to bring you out of this mindset is to discover more awareness by observing the sounds around you, smells of the environment, taste of the air, feeling or sensations of touching a surface in your space, and what you see in the moment. Find your phone and set a timer for one minute. Spend this brief time birthing a new perspective.

Take a new direction, Become More Creative
You cannot grow or create if you are unwilling to expand. Make new associations by pushing yourself to learn how to experience the world. You can literally form new synaptic connections in the brain by introducing yourself to new ideas, people, culture, food, and places. If you are stuck in your work, try taking a self-care/exploration day. Taking time to care for yourself, inside and out, exploring nature and travel are 3 excellent ways to overcome your creative blocks.

Slow down, cowgirl, and tune into your intuition! When time takes a long pause you can gather the most valuable lessons and appreciation for your beautiful world. Clearly being able to hear your voice of intuition and higher-self sets you up for living in pure alignment with your soul's purpose and your creativity can then flourish.

Mindfulness is not about being still, it is about noticing, without judgement, what is happening in the moment. Mastering mindfulness is as easy as stepping outside of your comfort zone to experience life, and in turn, unleashing your creativity.
