Time to Pack Your Bags!

Ever the optimist, the morning after the Brexit vote I woke up trying to put a positive spin on the market-shattering news of the “Leave” vote majority.  The obvious choice (and one I am sure that is shared by many of you) was, “I need to start planning a trip to London”!

Let’s look at the top reasons why this silver lining solution is a really good idea.

Special Offers
Many of the airlines are offering great travel packages for the summer, but as the pound will probably not have an immediate recovery, why not take advantage of the situation and take that trip across the pond after the tourists have gone home.

September is a beautiful month, the weather is still warm and many of the airline deals are still valid.  There are also very reasonable last minute airline options that will not set you back an arm and a leg.  If you do decide to take advantage of a last minute opportunity, be sure to check out:

Great Accommodations
You are never without hotel options in London.  There are many great large, small and boutique hotels in practically every neighborhood.  I recommend the Tablet Hotels site to familiarize yourself with availability, price and services.

If you can manage without the convenience of a restaurant on site or calling room service, there are some very good hotel alternatives that allow you to avoid paying the premium:

Airbnb
The global popularity of Airbnb has provided a vast array of home away from home options for travelers and London is no exception.  You can find many in town availabilities for under $150. a night.

Alastair Sawdays
Sawdays has a great array of interesting Bed and Breakfasts in London and throughout the UK and Europe at reasonable prices.

If you feel that the plunging pound has given you the opportunity to splurge, by all means check out the accommodations being offered on One Fine Stay. Normally, you can find spacious apartments that are great for couples, a small family or a girls getaway weekend. They are currently offering a 20% off special rate through September.

Fab Food
London used to be the last place on earth people would want to travel to for good food, but that has definitely changed. The restaurant scene in London is definitely front and center on the global food stage.

Check out the 40 hottest new restaurants and remember to book a reservation!

Sights, Venues and Getting Around
Time Out London enables you to check out upcoming venues and events with one click.  Find out if there is something of special interest on the horizon that will allow you to fine-tune your travel dates.

Visit London is another ideal site to find out everything that you need to know about the in-town goings on. This site will also give you a great overview of how to get around the sometimes complicated and always sprawling London landscape.

If you want to be spoiled, Uber fully services the London area, however there are plenty of lower cost options to get around the city including the very fast train from Heathrow to Paddington Station that allows you to avoid traffic and be in the heart of the city in less an twenty minutes.  Once there you can take the Underground, opt for a taxi or request an Uber to take you the rest of the way.

Plugging In
One of the most expensive, yet indispensible aspects of traveling abroad is cell phone usage.  It is important to know how to avoid paying exorbitant fees.

Money Saving Expert is a comprehensive website that has recently been updated to reflect the most currently accurate information on this subject.

Odds & Ends
If you have some time before your trip you might apply for a TSA Pre Check.  It can save you the hassle of spending hour is in airport security lines.

Now check to see if that Passport is still valid and member take lots of pictures and share them with the Holistic Fashionista tribe. Cheers!

3 Inexpensive Ways to Unleash Your Inner Style Icon

3 INEXPENSIVE WAYS TO UNLEASH
YOUR INNER STYLE ICON

Written By: Eyenie Schultz     Photo Credit: Dasha and Mari

OK, so first things first: Let’s go ahead and accept that you’re a Visionary! You’ve up to HUGE things in this world, you’re changing lives, and building an empire.

If you think about it, you’ve likely done a ton of inner work on mindset, wealth consciousness, and I would bet that you’ve devoured loads of self-realization, business, health and new age books.

This means you’re constantly expanding and growing and elevating yourself on so many levels! And sometimes, it can take awhile for part of us – like what we wear – to catch up.

One of the easiest ways to raise your vibration and start acting like the woman you know you’re destined to be is to dress the part! It’s visual, immediate and tangible! Plus, it usually comes with oodles of accolades and compliments, which isn’t what we’re after, but it sure is welcome, am I right?!

So, here are 3 ways you can start dressing like the ICONIC Visionary you are, using what you have already:

1.)    Figure out what you actually like, instead of wearing what you think you should wear. Buy a few magazines and rip pages out to build a collage of ideas and inspiration. Start a Pinterest board and go nuts with keywords of things you dig and see what materializes for you. Spend an hour at a coffee shop just people watching and see what and who draws your attention and why. Even go to some dreamy stores and allow yourself to try some stuff on to see how it feels. Guaranteed, it will expand your horizons!

2.)    Get rid of anything in your closet that makes you feel how you don’t want to feel – whether it brings up memories, doesn’t fit anymore, or is just not something you reach for. Clearing out makes room for more of what you do want – ideas, inspiration and even clothes!

3.)    When you’re getting dressed in the morning, ask yourself, “What would Dream Me wear today?!” and choose what you wear from that space. You’ll notice yourself taking more risks, exploring and taking things to that next level more easily!

Doing these regularly will keep you open to what’s possible for you, and you’ll be strutting your ICONIC Style in no time flat!

5 WAYS ACTIVATED CHARCOAL CAN HELP YOUR SELF-CARE REGIMEN

Article By: Heather Jadus

If we are talking charcoal, then I am thinking of my Grandma.  She used to sketch with it and taught me how to sketch with it too!

Do you know the difference between charcoal and activated charcoal? Both are derived from carbon. Activated charcoal is much more porous than charcoal. Because of its larger surface area, activated carbon's ability to filter out more than charcoal can; is making it a better choice.

Here’s how YOU can use activated charcoal every day for both your health and beauty….

1.    Brush Your Teeth With It!

Activated charcoal helps whiten teeth while promoting good oral health by changing the pH balance in the mouth, helping prevent cavities, bad breath and gum disease.

It actually absorbing plaque and microscopic tidbits that can stain teeth and cause bad breath. This activated charcoal use is cost-effective and an all-natural solution for a bright smile.
The capsules are very easy to find.  Click HERE and you can get 100 capsules for under $10.

You can get 2-4 brushings per capsule by breaking the capsule open into a small dish. Just dip your toothbrush in and brush like normal.  The charcoal has no taste and does look a bit creepy when you see your mouth turning black but trust me it REALLY works!  My teeth have never felt so clean!  Don’t forget to use it on your tongue too!  And be careful, it can get messy and will stain your clothing/vanity etc.

2.    It Can Prevent a Hangover!

Yep!  You read that right!  While activated charcoal does not adsorb alcohol, it does help quickly remove other toxins from the body that contribute to poisoning. Because the charcoal is taking care of these “other” toxins the alcohol toxins can be processed through the liver quicker and more efficiently.  In addition, when activated charcoal is taken at the same time as alcohol it has been shown to significantly reduce blood alcohol concentrations.  Seriously try it! You’re welcome!

3.    Uses For The Skin

For external treatments, activated charcoal is effective at treating acne and relieving discomfort from insect bites, rashes from poison ivy or poison oak, and snake bites.

To treat acne, mix one capsule of activated charcoal with two teaspoons of aloe vera gel, and smooth over face. Let dry and rinse off completely. The activated charcoal binds with environmental toxins and dirt that contribute to acne. It’s also good for spot treatments.

After bites stings and rashes, mix one capsule of activated charcoal with ½ tablespoon of coconut oil, and dab on affected area. Reapply every 30 minutes until itching and discomfort are gone.

The bottom line is that this stuff actually lifts toxins out of your skin!  Here is a MASK and bar of facial SOAP that I love and they work wonders!  And they are less mess than the capsules.  Win/Win.

4.    Uses for the Body

Activated charcoal uses include helping prevent cellular damage to kidneys and liver, as well as supporting healthy adrenal glands. It’s imperative to cleanse toxins and chemicals routinely from the body. Activated charcoal benefits major organs by helping the body flush out the toxins and chemicals that cause the damage.

Aging is a natural part of life, but due to the toxic load we are exposed to through food, our homes and workplaces, and our environment, to prevent pre-mature aging we must get rid of them.

For this activated charcoal use, take two capsules per day after exposure to nonorganic foods, heavy meals or after contact to other toxins. This supports better cognitive function, a reduction in brain fog, healthier kidney and liver function, and a healthier digestive tract.

5.    Digestive Cleanse

Activated charcoal uses help promote a healthy digestive tract by removing toxins that cause allergic reactions, oxidative damage and poor immune system function. By removing the toxins from your system, you can reduce joint pain, increase energy and increase mental function.
To complete a digestive cleanse with activated charcoal, take 10 grams 90 minutes prior to each meal, for two days.  Eating clean and drinking plenty of water will make this activity that much more effective!

These are just for our skin and body.  Charcoal can do wonders for cleaning mold and toxins as well.  We are just scratching the surface with this stuff.

I hope you try at least one of these tips and let us know how it worked!

Be Informed. Be Safe. Be Healthy.

Charcoal
Charcoal is commonly used in the home. It's used in water treatment systems, reduce odors, in vacuum cleaners, for creating works of art (with Grandma), and for cooking on outdoor grills.

Activated Charcoal
Activated charcoal, or activated carbon, has oxygen added to it to increase its porosity, thereby, adding to its surface area. It's normally used to remove chemicals, toxins, and gases. Activated carbon has proven to be more successful when it comes to removing toxins!  Yay!
