If you’re an entrepreneur, you’ve probably noticed that everyone and their mother wants to get on the entrepreneur train these days and with the coming of age millennials and Gen Y’s, that number continues to grow every year. 

Is there enough business to go around?

The answer is “yes,” there is plenty of business to go around, because just as the number of entrepreneurial dreamers grow, so does the number of dreamers who need your service, however, the challenge is how do you stand out and get noticed in a very crowded sea?

What is a business success super power? A business success super power is not like a Wonder Woman character, running around in a low cut sexy costume and stiletto boots, a business success super power is a very unique talent, skill or energy that all of us possess and feels natural to us, yet it’s not really something that others in your field can do. The first and absolute most important step is you have to drop the pity party attitude right now, if you have it! The pity party attitude is your kryptonite that will weaken you and keep you from both discovering and using your business success super power. If you have at any time, compared yourself to other people on social media or anywhere else, believe that others are more talented than you, feel like you’re not enough, or you wish you could be someone other than you, or any other self-doubt thoughts, then like Lex Luther trapping Superman, you’re surrounded by a wall of kryptonite that will eventually kill your success!  

What comes easy to you?

Once you have escaped your “kryptonite” the next question you ask yourself is what has always come easy for you or what have most people complimented you on as being impressive? Here are a few examples of success super powers that are exceptionally powerful in business that most people don’t think about:

• Ability to really listen to others
• Ability to intuitively know what someone needs
• You have strong energy and enthusiasm that is contagious to others
•  You can walk into a room with power woman confidence and get noticed
• You can connect well with others
• You know how to connecting others to each other
• You’re a master networker
• You make others feel warm and appreciated
• You can make someone feel safe and protected
• You can create beautiful, inspirational content in a flash, that people thank you for

• You are a computer geek who can easily create sites and social media strategies that get noticed

How to use your super power

When it comes to your personal super power, what may come very easy and naturally to you may not for others. For example having a super power of high energy and enthusiasm that is contagious, is a strong power, because people who possess that super power can make a wet piece of coal seem exciting and valuable enough to get others excited and happy to pay the high asking price for that wet coal. Most people, regardless of how many books and courses they’ve taken, will never be able to master that skill, because that skill is not a skill that they are comfortable with, however someone may have the computer geek super power and she can sit all day at her computer, inspiring and energizing a whole community of online people who love what she is doing and they will buy what she has to offer, without ever seeing their faces or speaking to them.

Master your super powers

Make a list of all of your super powers, pick three of what you believe to be your strongest super powers and learn how to master and channel it into your business success. For example, if your super powers are master networker, able to listen to others and you connect well, then stop spending your time behind a computer and find ways to connect with others face to face. The more you master your success super powers, the easier it will be for you to say up, up and away and fly to your dreams quickly!

What child during his/her growing years ever says, “when I grow up, I want to be broke, struggling and unhappy in life?” Most children dream about the limitless possibilities of their future.

What is it that happens when we grow up? What is the roadblock that suddenly stands in our way of living the life we dream about as children? 

The answer is “misinformation.”

What does that mean?
It means that when we were growing up, most of us were given a ton of misinformation about whom we are, what we should become and how we should function in this world. For example, our school system develops its main tests and curriculums for a certain learning style and those children who function at a different learning style other than what the school system says is “normal” are often punished, put in a “special” class for problem students, or they get put on psychoactive meds.  

The lies we’re taught
Throughout our most formidable years of learning who we are and about developing self-acceptance, we often become disconnected from who we really are, developing a feeling of low self acceptance and even self hatred, because we were constantly given punishing lies of “not being good enough” or of “being a bad student” because perhaps we forgot to finish an assignment, we had trouble keeping up with some of the homework load, our test scores were too low, we didn’t make the team, the assignment was done sloppy and so on. We became fearful of any “normal” mistake that we made, because we were programed to believe that we must be perfect 100% of the time and that the occasional failures, mistakes and falling on our face were “unacceptable”, so we grow up believing that are unacceptable, unless we can reach perfection.

From approval seeking to running away
Why do most people give up too soon? Because we become hooked on the constant search for approval and acceptance in order to keep moving forward and the second we don’t get that approval and acceptance or if it’s taking too long to find it, then our primal survival instinct kicks in from memories of the past of getting punished and hurt, so we choose to give up and run the other way, rather than the face the pain of disapproval.

How to change your misinformation 
The best and quickest ways to delete those lies about yourself is simply by learning about who you are, what makes you tick and how your mind works. For example, I had a mentor who was wonderful at many things; however, one of her flaws was that she only taught in a style that worked for her and not for everyone. Rather than choosing to have patience and understand that my brain style is different, she chose to not only punish me, but also punish me in front of our whole coaching group and make an example of me. Because I had a better understanding about myself, I realized she wasn’t a right fit for me, so I stopped working with her, where in the past, I would have beat myself up, gotten depressed and make every effort to get her approval again.

A client of mine came to me with very low self esteem and carrying a serious burden of guilt on his shoulders about who he is, because he truly believed that there was something wrong with him, he had misinformation about what is considered “normal” and what makes him tick. After working with me, I not only taught him about his personality and brain type, but I proved to him that the issues he went through are actually “normal” but no one ever allowed him to see that. Once he learned more about what makes him tick and how normal he really is, his self-esteem went up and he’s a much happier man.

4 Steps to finding who you are

1| Learn about your learning style: You can go online and take a test to see if you are a visual, auditory or kinesthetic learner.  It makes a huge difference in teaching you how you can best absorb information.

2| Do research on your personality type: Find some detailed personality tests to take online, such as the one on Holistic Fashionista or Myers Briggs, to know what makes you tick.

3| Find out your brain organizing type: Feeling frazzled? Rather than beat yourself up for lack of time management, read up on how the brain works. One book I love is called “Organizing for Your Brain Type” by Lanna Nakone, which includes a quiz and gives some great tips.

4| Practice daily rituals: Every day do something that will help strengthen who you are, such as hypnosis, guided imagery, step outside of your comfort zone, make your bed if you never make your bed, eat in a nice restaurant, do anything that makes you feel good and ultimately leads to you having a stronger bond with your true self!

Have you experienced being so motivated and confident about something such as a fitness or business goal and then a few days later, that motivation and desire has come and gone like a California rainstorm?

Perhaps, you’ve made every effort to set and follow through on your goals, absolutely swearing that this time you are going to stick with it and then “poof” your motivation is gone, then you make every excuse in the world as to why you can’t follow through on your goal, which at the time, that excuse, such as the fact that your cat needs to be fed, seems to make lots of sense. Perhaps you did stick it through as far as you could and you hit so many obstacles and storms that you gave up on yourself “again.” And now, this has become a repetitive cycle of madness and you’re wondering what is wrong with you? It seems easy for everyone else, why can’t it be easy for you?

Maybe you have some judgments about yourself such as:

•    I have ADD
•    I’m a loser
•    I’m lazy
•    It’s the way I was raised
•    I just can’t deal with it now
•    Let me look further into the reasons why I can’t do this (searching for proof that supports your follow through failures.)
•    I need to stop and take a look at myself/my issues still (using the personal development mask to make you look good to yourself and “what you think” to others why you stopped again on your goals.)
•    I don’t have enough time
•    It’s so and so’s fault
•    If I had more time, money, better looking etc. 
•    There’s too many obstacles getting in my way, so I’ll put this off till I have more clarity, things get better, I’m in a better place in my life…etc.

There will always be some excuse that will seem reasonable enough to cause you to give up on your goals, until 10 years later you look back and find that you are still on the same hamster wheel of repetitive patterns with little to no changes in your life except for your age, weather patterns and the hair on your head.

Why do we give up on ourselves?

We give up on ourselves, because change is incredibly hard. We are stuck in a cycle of habit and comfort. Believe it or not, as much as some of us would like to change our circumstances, after years of the same way of being, old habits start to become like an old familiar friend. That habit good or bad, is the only habit we have known for so many years, we know what to expect and how to handle it. In a dysfunctional kind of way, we feel some sort of comfort and control therefore, we are afraid to release what’s familiar and go into the unknown. Our natural, primal instinct for survival goes into fight and flight mode, freezing us in our tracks and causing us to turn around and go back into our comfort zone, the second we hit an obstacle or feeling of discomfort. Only when our pain becomes stronger than the pain of change is when we make more of an effort to ride out the pain of change and make a move. It’s like the story of an old dog sleeping on a nail, the friend says to the farmer, “your dog is sleeping on a nail, don’t you want to do something?” The farmer says, “no, he’ll move himself when he’s uncomfortable enough.”

Uncomfortable yet?  
Chances are if you are reading this, then you have reached a certain level of discomfort in your life to finally want to not only do what it takes to have a better life and reach your dreams, but stick to it this time!

Here are 3 steps to sticking with and achieving your goals:

• STOPPING JUDGING YOURSELF! This is THE MOST important step, rather than wondering why something doesn’t work for you, discover what makes you tick and find what works for YOU to follow through and stick things out.

• While you are drifting asleep at night, repeat to yourself over and over again your goal for the next day, such as waking up at 6am and being energized to workout. We are in a natural state of hypnosis when we are falling asleep.

• Listen to a guided meditation, visualization or hypnosis recording to overcome some of your limiting beliefs or blocks daily. Your subconscious mind can’t tell the difference between what’s real and what’s not, so with enough coaxing, your mind will begin to have full cooperation in helping you stick to your goals and get what you want in life!

Bless the people who piss us off in our lives, you know those people, we all have them around us, our close friend, sibling, parent, love relationship, the person who you may have just recently blocked on Facebook.

Most of the time (not all the time) those people are in our lives to help us become aware of something deep inside that we may either not be aware of or we are in just plain denial about.

What do I mean?  
The other day, I was speaking to a friend of mine (I’ll call her Anna) and she expressed to me that she had been upset all week at her father, therefore she was doing all she could to stay away from home as much as possible and avoid speaking to him since she lived with her parents. She opened up to me about how much he had hurt her because he was criticizing her and he told her that she was greedy. Anna said that being called “greedy” hit her the hardest, because she had been so careful with money.   Anna couldn’t even be around her father after that and she was so angry with him. I did a little probing and I asked if there was some fear deep inside her of being greedy? At first she was in denial, then I probed a little deeper and sure enough, she did have some deep fear of being greedy and she had extreme guilt around money, which reflected in her business and her life to the point where after 5 years of being a coach, she was still giving away her service for free and living at home.

The invisible signals we send
Many of us are unaware that we either send or receive unconscious signals that those close to us will pick up or we will pick up from them. The closer we are to a person and the longer we have been around them, the more they will pick up our unconscious signals and most likely throw those signals back at us in some way. In addition, we will attract whatever unconscious signal we are sending out. For example if a woman is constantly attracting relationships that are abusive in some way, then chances are high that she has been beating herself up inside for many years and the only way to stop this cycle is through self love and becoming continuously conscious of when she beats herself up inside until the point that she has full control over her own self abuse and stops it.

How it works
Lets say you write a book and your hubby says to you “your book will never sell” or you get involved in a relationship with a man and he begins to call you “superficial” or “self-centered” anytime you express a desire to go out more. Rather than getting upset at the person for being unsupportive or an absolute jerk, really get honest with yourself, I mean DEEPLY honest with yourself and ask yourself these questions:

•    Is this this how I really feel inside?
•    Is this a deep fear I haven’t been willing to face?
•    Is this an unconscious belief that has been blocking me and is now being revealed to me?
•    What am I going to do to change this belief, starting now?

Once you’re clear and conscious on what is really going on deep inside, then silently give gratitude to the person who pissed you off and then get to work on fixing this personal issue you have because once you do that you will notice a few miraculous things happen:

•    The person close to you who normally criticizes you, will either leave your life or become more loving and supportive
•    The blocks that you had towards some of your goals will begin to lessen and vanish
•    You will have an increased awareness in yourself and the world around you
•    You will become a more confident and happier person, because you are consciously aware of your own crap and you quickly do something about it!

Be aware that, there are true jerks out there who just get pure joy by bullying others and the great thing is that you will become so aware and strong in your personal truth about yourself, that not only will they not affect you, but you’ll be able to just smile and gently release those people from you life, while continually be able to recognize and be grateful to ones that are there to piss us off for our highest good!

Recently, I met a woman who I connected with right away, because we’re both creative and passionate. It broke my heart when she recently told me that her belief is at zero and she’s lost faith in herself, her business and that anyone will want what she has to offer. Like, me she has given up many times on her dreams in frustration.

A few months ago, I was watching an interview on Adam Ant, (He was a big pop star in the 80’s.)  During his interview, he was talking about his battle with depression over the years and as he was speaking about his depression, I watched in eyes, his body language and I listened to his tone of voice, Adam Ant was speaking about his battle with depression with great shame, calling it a monster. By the shameful tone of his voice and body language, you would have thought he had committed some horrible crime in the past that he had great regret towards!

The Normal Myth
Though very different, what those two have in common, is that they are both creative, passionate, right brain dominant people. These types of people are naturally drawn to and are very good at entrepreneurship, music, acting, dance, writing, healing and other forms of creativity. Sadly, the belief that many creatives grow up with is that they must identify with what is considered “normal” in a left-brain dominated world.

What is normal?
Traditionally, normal is a well behaved child, who graduates from school with good grades, excels in college, gets married, has a good “stable” job, good credit, organized, buys a house and raises a family and then the same process starts over again with each generation.

The Problem
The problem is that for most creative, right brain dominate people, that’s not who they are nor necessarily want to be and because their “told” that’s the way it’s supposed to be, the talented, creative end up beating themselves up for attempting to be who their not.

The truth 
Since creative people are dominated by their right brain and are feeling types, it’s “normal” for them to go through depression, be full of ideas and not follow through on them, be disorganized and a list of other things that they were led to believe is not “normal.”

Be who you are

One evening, my boyfriend and I were on our way to the Ahmanson Theater in LA to see a show, during rush hour traffic. ‘Type in Ahmanson for directions on WAZE,” he asked (WAZE is this super cool app that gives you directions to avoid traffic). I typed in the Ahmanson Theater and the female voice on WAZE, directed us to go on the 118 fwy. Immediately, my boyfriend panicked,” I don’t do the 118, I’ve never done the 118 before, find another route!” “This is the route she’s giving us to avoid the traffic.” I said. Still panicking, he shouted “are you sure, that you typed in the Ahmanson in LOS ANGELES?” “It’s taking us the wrong way!”  

I assured him, we were going the right way. “I don’t do the 118,” he said again as he grabbed the phone while jolting the car to find other routes, we ended up having to go on the 118, which turned out to be a great route avoiding the rush hour traffic.

Sound familiar?
Perhaps this isn’t you on the fwy, but what about in your own life or business? Too often we may panic and attempt to “jolt” our life in a direction that seems more comfortable while ignoring our own inner guidance system, which is attempting to move us along faster by taking us into the unknown.
 
Our Internal Guidance
When we ask the powers that be for guidance in our life or our business, we have programed in the destination that we want to go and our inner guidance begins to show us the way.

Self Sabotage
Though we asked to be shown the way, it’s not always the way we expected to go and to be honest MOST of the time it’s not the way that we expect our destination to go. It’s the same thing working with coaches and mentors too, we hire them to be our navigation system, but if what they instruct us to do is not within our comfort level, many times we resist and go back the route we’re comfortable with and then wonder why we’re still stuck in what seems like a mess.

Manage Your Fear
When you become the master of managing your fears, then you will begin to notice more intuitive guidance, help along the way and you will get to your destination much faster.

3 Steps To Managing Your Fear:

1| Acknowledge that you’re going into the unknown and you’re just not comfortable with it.

2| Get yourself excited about experiencing something new and what you may discover.

3| Say to yourself “I move from fear to faith” and then just go for it!

Deep down inside (or not so deep down) there is the dream vision of yourself screaming to get out and run free, you know it and you feel it, so why is it so dang difficult to create the new habits and thoughts to unleash that vision?

Triggers.
New habits and thoughts are difficult to improve because we have habitual triggers that are everywhere and the people and surroundings around us influence those triggers.

The “Golden Rule of Habit Change”.
Every habit has three components: a cue (or a trigger for an automatic behavior to start), a routine (the behavior itself) and a reward (“dopamine” which is how our brain learns to remember this pattern for the future.)  The moment you open your eyes in the morning in the same bed you have been in for years, you are automatically triggering your “cue” for your normal thoughts and behaviors to begin before your morning coffee, which really seems unfair if you are working towards positive change.

Reframe triggers.
Reframing is the general change in a person’s mindset, whether it is a positive or negative change.  People who begin a 12 step AA program for drinking, are required to go to 90 meetings in 90 days and they absolutely cannot be around the influences of the people, places and things that would trigger their drinking to relapse, (the cue) and by reframing their minds through supportive repetition and keeping away from old influences, those old triggers will begin to have little power over them in the future.

Reframing your triggers at home.
Waking up to the same bad habit cues everyday can be a challenge and there are simple ways to reframe your trigger cues and influence new success habits to stick everyday while still in your old “bad habit” environment. 

6 steps to reframe your triggers and influence new kickass habits:

  • Listen to brain stimulating music everyday, morning and noon 
  • Listen to relaxing music before bed that puts you in a Zen state
  • Listen to inspiring and motivational audio books everyday
  • Read a chapter of an inspirational and motivational book everyday
  • Exercise at least 20 minutes everyday to stimulate the oxygen and reward chemical in your brain
  • Eat a healthy diet of proteins, veggies, healthy fats and low sugars, which will help your body to create a consistent supply of neurons to your brain that stimulates the reward chemical and focus.

Do these 6 steps everyday for 90 days to consistently stimulate the reward chemical in your brain, as studies have shown that new habits can easily develop and over ride old habits when our brain’s “reward” centers are triggered and attached to new habits for life changing results
