ORGANIZING IS WELL-PLANNED HOARDING: LET'S FIX IT
Article by Kolee Hemenway
Can one be accused of organized hoarding?
Yes; sometimes, being organized is glamorized hoarding. Here's why:
1. What is being “organized" anyway? How could having all the neat little baskets, totes, bins and closets filled with stuff be hoarding?
2. Don't we "need" it, I use it, I may need it, I like or used to like it, and/or I paid a lot for that!
3. Why is it here in the first place, and how does affect the whole?
Let's discuss:
I am a recovering organizer, so save your ego messages. I started writing and checking the boxes as soon as I learned to write apparently!
As far as I can tell, organizing one's stuff (I'll call it STUFF here, and really notice the connotation please and thank you) either mental, physical, emotional, etc. means putting it into categories-- typically "stuffing” it into categories like time, money, want to, space, etc.
Thoughts such as "Wait! I need it, I want it, I like it. What if we really DID need it and we didn't have it? What then?!" start to come into mind.
I had my 2nd batch of children in my 30s, and because I had been working on clearing and de-cluttering in my emotional life, I had better health and a cleaner version of "my cells" to work with. I had given Divine self-permission to FEEL lovable and worthy of happiness. That decision led to minimalism... That's right, found freedom!
Minimalism is the idea of clearing out what isn't being used, enjoyed or needed anymore.
It's about paying attention to what comes in the door in the first place, what we do with it once it's here and ultimately the main thing is where did it originate in the first place!
I have always had the propensity to keep things clean, neat, tidy and clear. However, I would wake up some days and something would trigger a "cray cray" re-action where I would obsessively clear out the stuff that had mysteriously crept back into my sanctuary.
In my experience, I feared this stuff so much but would end back up with it again and again! What was going on?!
All the "extra", "yeah, I'm going to", "I should”, or "supposed to” get rid of items became the items I began to let go of. It was THEN that the light officially came on! There was an emotional space I was attempting to deal with physically, which would l never work. Also, I was emptying the space to relieve emotional pressure-- also doesn't work.
(This is not an article to convince you to become a minimalist, to not purchase stuff, or even to inspire you to get rid of stuff!)
It is to get you thinking about why you actually have the need to possess shit that is made in a sweatshop and pollutes our precious waterways, air, and soil; to help you start looking at why we keep these things around us. We either thrive on the feeling of letting go OR on keeping the stuff and risk feeling negatively about it.
So, let's identify and let go! Some of the stuff you have lying around is probably just bogging you down and isn’t representing your NOW. When you start to let go of the not necessary, not started project materials, and left undone ideas never tended to, your whole will open up to the real YOU. The "unnecessary shit" cycle will happen again and again. Until...
You realize you need to recognize the way that you're binging and purging possessions and really get conscious about what you bring into your space. This will lead you to a profound life shift; learning that you a part of the whole. By purchasing Earth harming dyes and slavery-made clothes or synthetically mass produced toxic substances in any shape or form (smell, taste, medications, and so on) you are not only harming yourself, you may actually be a part of the problem that you claim to be against.
A holistic, sustainable, and conscious consumer ideology is honestly the only thing truly that will help support the living vibration of the 5D and beyond. We will be earthbound and weighed down, emotionally, physically and mentally until we, or enough of us, really dig into the wholeness of truly conscious lifestyles.
